Our History

THE HISTORY OF FRONTIER SQUARES

In September 1971, a beginner western-style square dance class was started under the leadership of Johnny Davis.  In 1972, the first organized Western Square Dance Club in Clermont County was formed.  We adopted the name of Frontier Squares in 1973.

The inspiration for the club’s name and logo came from the Frontier Days celebration held annually on the first weekend in June at the Victor Stier American Legion in Milford.  Frontier Squares danced in the Victor Stier American Legion’s Hall for 46 years.  In 2019, we moved to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Loveland, Ohio.

As a plus-level club, we have been known for square, round, and line dancing.   Our present format is plus-level square dancing and line dancing.  Frontier Squares has over 100 members and is one of the largest square dance clubs in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.  All you have to do is dance with us, and you’ll understand why!

In addition to classes and themed dances, we actively seek to “Give Back to the Community”.  We are pleased to be able to host annual charitable events, such as our annual fall food drive.  Especially important to our club are organizations that provide help to children.  Each year, we not only hold a collection drive for Toys for Tots, but we also actively support the annual Ronald McDonald House Benefit Dance hosted by the Greater Cincinnati Dance Federation.
